Episcopal City Mission (ECM) has identified key priority bills at the state level in Massachusetts, including a $20 minimum wage and housing justice measures, with the goal of advancing policies to close the racial wealth gap. From Easter to Pentecost, ECM hosted a “Season of Advocacy,” highlighting one bill each week.
Excitingly, all the bills we support have received extensions on their deadlines for favorable committee reports, paving the way for House and Senate votes. We have updated our advocacy toolkits from the Season of Advocacy to remain relevant until the new deadlines. Stay tuned to this page for the latest updates on these critical bills!
These toolkits can be used by individuals, or shared among your congregation. Some ideas for how to involve your church:
Host a table during coffee hour after the service for people to make calls or write letters right then and there.
Collect a list of interested parishioners and reach out to them each week with the new toolkit.
As part of a social justice/racial justice committee, take the time to make the calls or write letters together during your meeting.
Include the one page flyer in your church newsletter or bulletin.
